What is the one thing that separates Christianity from every other religion? Grace!
Grace is the good news a weary, fallen world desperately needs. Grace is what God’s unchanging love looks like. Grace is what makes Christianity beautiful and possible and livable.
I am obsessed with grace and can't imagine life without it. Even before I began to explore its magnitude, grace was present in my life. God’s grace has brought you and me safe thus far, and grace will lead us home.
Over the years I've collected many grace quotes. These are some of my favorites.
1. Grace means there is nothing I can do to make God love me more, and nothing I can do to make God love me less. It means that I, even I who deserve the opposite, am invited to take my place at the table in God’s family. ~ Philip Yancey
2. Our whole world is wired to judge you by your performance, and it is natural for us to feel like God works that way too. He doesn’t. He’s got a completely different system. It’s called grace. And we can believe in it, rest in it, and then dance in it like no one is watching. ~ Pete Briscoe
3. Grace is not a doctrine or a podcast or a tweet. Grace is not a season to walk through or a midweek seminar. Grace is not one aspect of God’s character to be balanced against his other, less gracious aspects. Grace is a Person who loves you, died for you, and now lives for you. The gospel of grace is the gospel of Jesus... ~ Paul Ellis
4. Faith is a living, daring confidence in God's grace, so sure and certain that a man would stake his life on it a thousand times. ~ Martin Luther
5. Grace is the empowering presence of God that enables you to become what He sees when He looks at you. ~ Graham Cooke
6. An ordinary person, captured by the extraordinary grace of an extraordinary God, can change the world. ~ Max Lucado
7. The grace of God means something like: Here is your life. You might never have been, but you are because the party wouldn't have been complete without you. ~ Frederick Buechner
8. Grace is a system of living whereby God blesses us because we are in Jesus Christ, and for no other reason at all.” ~ Steve McVey
9. Grace is sufficient even though we huff and puff with all our might to try to find something or someone it cannot cover. Grace is enough...[because] Jesus is enough. ~ Brennan Manning
10. God’s grace superabounds. It looks not to our sins or even to our good deeds but only to the merit of Christ. ~ Jerry Bridges
11. There is nothing more practical than the message of God's love and grace, and the believer's identity in Christ. People are always looking for God's power, and this is it! ~ Bob George
12. Amazing grace! How sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost but now am found, Was blind but now I see…. Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; ‘Tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home. ~ John Newton
13. Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly. ~ Jesus Christ, Matthew 11:28-30, MSG
